Last year for the site’s anniversary, I dropped dozens of monsters for 4 Horror War, a purely hypothetical mons game I made up in homage of a bunch of horror characters I like. Well, one of the things I’m doing this year is the first 4 Horror War DLC, House of 4 Horror War. There will be sixteen new arky families for your perusal this month. Today’s family belongs to Gothic Horror, THE HALLOWEENIE FAMILY!
Going from door to door in search of treats and inhospitable people to torment, Shooboo is generally as innocent as it appears, but will rain down hellfire on those who incur its childlike wrath.
If allowed to eat too much Halloween candy, Shooboo can vibrate with energy and burst into Flyeye. Though small and frail, this swift monster can fly circles around the battlefield firing off deadly ocular lasers before its enemies can even land a single hit.
If given still more Halloween candy, Flyeye can mutate into Fiendthing. Though it took the form of a crawling hand to better holds its precious sugary treats, this scrabbling severed limb remains a swift and deadly opponent, trading the power of flight for enough physical strength to crush its enemies’ windpipes.
If Shooboo is complimented on its cute pumpkin costume, it can evolve into Costkin. Now striding around on limbs made of vines, this living gourd can spit fire on its enemies while dancing about the field with glee.
If fed some plant nutrients and vitamins, Costkin can evolve into Sprooky. Though its roots can only carry its bulky body very slowly, this living tree is still a deadly foe, cramming enemies into its jagged mouth while slashing foes with its sharp branches.
If given a candle to light up its head, Costkin can evolve into Pumpkill. A great pumpkin indeed. this enormous gourd rolls into battle, strangling enemies with its vines and cramming them into the burning pit of its delicious-smelling maw.
If put on a team with the Witch arky Scathocus, Shooboo can evolve into Scarold. Brought to life through dark magic, this straw-filled living effigy can survive some truly horrible injuries, including dismemberment, and while its attacks are average in strength at best, its tenacity allows it to stay on the feel to keep dealing hit after hit until its foes finally succumb.
If Scarold discusses its anxiety about only being an imitation of the human form rather than its own monster, it can evolve into Boogbear. An imaginative and impossible beast, Boogbear is a jovial arky that delights in dealing the kind of hideously over-the-top violence only a child could imagine.
Now THESE guys I feel I recognize. You’ve got so many ideas pouring out, it makes me feel bad for taking so long to finish a single short story people will buy!
