ATOM Kaiju File #47: Venora

47-venora

Date Discovered: August 1st, 1958

Place of Origin: Scalim Homeworld

Notable Stomping Grounds: Scalim Homeworld, Mars, Typhon Island

Height: 100 feet

Biology: Native to the same planet as Crimorax, Venora shares the strange aboreal physiology of her fellow Scalim kaiju, with her mouth and “head” located on opposite ends of her body.  Unlike Crimorax, Venora has also been genetically modified by the Beyonder Alliance – specifically, she was repurposed as an aquatic predator, complete with a set of gill-like organs embedded in her head.  Venora still retains enough of her terrestrial adaptations to function on land well enough, though she cannot move beyond a slow crawl.

Her powers include:

  • Super strength
  • An enhanced healing factor
  • Immunity to radiation
  • Acidic slime duct in chest

Personality: Venora is a graceful, serene creature, content to spend her time calmly drifting from place to place if left to her own devices.  Unfortunately, as a kaiju owned by the Beyonder Alliance, most of her life involves being dropped into violent battles and fighting for her life.

With her slow moving gait on land, Venora appears to be an easy target.  Many kaiju rush in to attack her thinking the fight will be easy, only to discover that Venora’s long arms, while poor at moving her immense bulk, can be swung with deadly speed and precision.  Worse still, she can spew a deadly acidic slime out of the duct on her chest, drenching her foes in the horrific liquid while she stabs them repeatedly with her clawed arms.

She is an even deadlier threat underwater, where her ungainly body nonetheless manages to swim with surprising speed and elegance.  Aquatic combat particularly suits Venora’s most deadly weapon: her mouth, located at the bottom of her trunk-like body, which can deliver an utterly savage bite while her pincer-like claws hold her prey down.  Few creatures can survive a drop-down attack from the aquatic alien.
