ATOM Kaiju File #43: Pleprah

43-pleprah

Date Discovered: August 1st, 1958

Place of Origin: Beyonder Homeworld

Notable Stomping Grounds: Beyonder Homeworld, Mars, Typhon Island

Height: 95 feet from toe to horn tip

Wingspan: 300 feet

Biology: Born on the same planet as Torkenrak, Pleprah endured far less genetic modification, and thus gives humanity a better sense of how animal life works on the Beyonder homeworld.  While Pleprah’s six limbs superficially resemble the rubbery tentacles of a squid, they actually have an internal skeletal structure composed of several small, vertebrae-like bones, which gives Pleprah a wide range of movement.  While he has only one true eye, the two vestigial sockets on either side of it show that Pleprah’s ancestors once had three eyes like the other known Beyonder kaiju.

Pleprah’s power set includes:

  • Super strength
  • An enhanced healing factor
  • Immunity to radiation
  • Alluring vocalizations
  • Sonic blast

Personality: Pleprah is an amicable sort of monster.  When confronted with his fellow kaiju, he quickly tries to make himself the center of attention with a whole set of silly antics and vocalizations – what some less professional kaiju researchers claim is similar to “dancing” and “singing”.  While the daffy monster is adept at combat when pushed to fight, it seems to be far from his first priority, and given the chance Pleprah will drop any pretension of ill will in favor of putting on a new performance.

A consummate artist, Pleprah spends his spare time practicing his craft, making him one of the noisiest kaiju known to man.  The purple monster will take hours carefully manipulating the pitch and volume of the trumpeting sounds reverberating out of his cranial horn, then several hours more playing different pitches in different orders much akin to a human musician.  He can produce a wide range of sound, and many of his musical patterns can be considered melodious and even beautiful.

When forced to fight, Pleprah uses his goofiness to his advantage, tricking his opponents into underestimating him by seeming stupid and nonsensical.  He is actually incredibly spry and nimble for such a strange looking creature, and between his curved claws, strong bite, and powerful sonic blasts, he actually has quite a few good weapons to go along with his acrobatic feats of misdirection.  While not the best warrior among kaiju, Pleprah is a absurdly difficult enemy to face in his own right.

    Is…
    Is this a One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People-Eater?
Because if so, that is hilarious.
