Biology: Chlorespa is exactly what she looks like on the surface: a gigantic wasp.  It is unknown whether her kaiju status is the result of a sudden mutation. like the Myrmidants, or the result of longtime exposure to Yamaneon radiation, as is the case with many of the prehistoric kaiju running around.  Likewise, since no other specimens of her species exist, it is unknown whether Chlorespa is eusocial in nature or solitary.  She is definitely descended from one of the many carnivorous breeds of wasps, and will actively prey on other kaiju when hungry enough.

Her kaiju powers include:

  • Super strength
  • An enhanced healing factor
  • Immunity to radiation
  • Alkaline Venomous Sting

Personality: “Prim” is a word that has been used to describe Chlorespa’s mannerisms on more than one occasion, though this is probably just an anthropomorphic misinterpretation of her insect behavior.  The wasp spends much of its time cleaning its arms and antenna, fussing with her enormous paper nest, and observing her surroundings with eyes that just happen to be shaped with a slightly disdainful expression.

When it comes to levels of kaiju aggression, Chlorespa is in the middle of the scale.  Neither a city ravaging scourge nor a “defender of the earth,” Chlorespa is normally content to live and let live, paying humanity and its concrete towers little mind.  She generally avoids civilized spaces, as the lack of foliage makes her uncomfortable at best and downright nervous at worst.  Despite her massive size, the insect prefers to be surrounded by flowers and trees if at all possible.

Her carnivorous instincts are quieter than they are in other kaiju, and as such Chlorespa only rarely picks fights with her kind.  Similarly, despite her non-kaiju kin’s reputation for aggression, she’s one of the least territorial kaiju known.  Other monsters can pass into and out of her domain fairly freely, and only a direct attack has been known to rouse the wasp’s ire.  Of course, once angered she is a fierce opponent, using her strong mandibles, multiple sets of claws, and her long venomous stinger to make her enemies regret challenging her.

Whether Chlorespa is a social creature is a matter of some debate.  While she generally acts aloof and disinterested in the antics of her fellow giants, the wasp has been found in the company of other kaiju from time to time.  She seems to show a slight preference for other arthropods, sometimes even following them around from one nest to another.  This odd and inconsistent behavior is one of the enduring mysteries in the world of kaiju research.
